Community Food Distribution
Ensuring Dignified Access to Nutritious Food
NY Friends of Haiti 2010 (NYFOH) is committed to addressing food insecurity through its Emergency Assistance & Food Security Program, a community-centered initiative that provides free, culturally appropriate, and nutritious food to families across Long Island and Queens.
Each year, NYFOH serves more than 4,800 individuals, including seniors, families with children, and households with limited mobility. Our approach prioritizes dignity, accessibility, and cultural relevance—ensuring that the food we distribute meets the nutritional and cultural needs of the communities we serve.
Our Impact
4,800+ individuals served annually
Monthly community food distributions in high-need neighborhoods
Emergency food support during unexpected crises
Outreach to seniors and residents with mobility challenges
As food insecurity continues to rise, NYFOH remains a trusted lifeline for families who are struggling to put healthy food on the table.
Why This Program Matters
Food insecurity affects more than just physical health—it impacts educational outcomes, economic stability, and overall community well-being. Many of the families we serve face barriers such as limited transportation, fixed incomes, language access challenges, and rising living costs.
NYFOH’s program responds to these realities by:
Removing cost barriers to nutritious food
Delivering services directly into communities
Offering culturally familiar food options that respect dignity and choice
Expanding Our Reach: The Need for a Dedicated Food Truck
As demand for food assistance continues to grow, NYFOH is seeking support to purchase a dedicated food truck—a critical investment that will significantly enhance our capacity and reliability.
A dedicated food truck will allow NYFOH to:
Expand distribution to underserved neighborhoods
Reach seniors and homebound residents more effectively
Respond quickly during emergencies and community crises
Improve operational efficiency and food safety
Reduce reliance on short-term or borrowed transportation
This investment will help build a scalable and resilient food security system capable of meeting both ongoing monthly needs and urgent emergency situations.
How Your Support Makes a Difference
Your donation or sponsorship directly supports:
Emergency food relief for families in need
Purchase and operation of a community food truck
Increased distribution capacity and geographic reach
Sustainable, long-term food security infrastructure
Every contribution helps ensure that no family has to choose between food and other basic necessities.
