Become a Sponsor of Climate Change and Reforestation

Join NY Friends of Haiti 2010 in our mission to combat climate change and restore Haiti’s precious forests. Our eco-school and community are uniting to address the urgent environmental challenges facing our country.

The Challenge:
Extreme conditions exacerbated by a lack of rainfall have left farmers and students struggling to survive. With only 1% of forestry remaining in Haiti, we are at risk of losing our national bird, the Calcon Rouge, to deforestation. Charcoal has become the dominant energy source, worsening the problem.

Our Goal:
To plant one million trees annually in Haiti, we need your support. Our approach involves mobilizing schools to have each student plant a tree every academic year. We also work with farmers to increase tree planting efforts. Your sponsorship can provide essential resources such as bags, seeds, soil, tree seedlings, and tools.

How You Can Help:
Your in-kind donations of items like bags, seeds, gloves, and shovels are invaluable. Additionally, financial contributions support our efforts in restoring landscapes and addressing food shortages. Join us and help make World Environment Day a special event where 2500 trees will be planted, creating job opportunities and fostering a healthier environment.

The Impact:
Together, we can safeguard our forests, promote agroforestry, and ensure a sustainable future for all. With 30,000 trees already planted, we’re making progress, but there’s much more to be done. Your sponsorship will help preserve Haiti’s natural legacy and forge a brighter future.
